Open Positions:
Intellectual Property / Government Contracts Attorney
Description: Primary functions will include providing guidance with regard to the patentability of invention disclosures, supervising outside counsel, preparing and negotiating intellectual property agreements, conducting right-to-use studies, preparing infringement opinions, providing effective guidance with regard to IP risks, conducting intellectual property due diligence to support acquisitions and divestitures, providing guidance for IP litigation, conducting intellectual property law training, successfully interacting with IP law groups throughout the world.
Additional duties will include preparing, prosecuting, and filing patent applications, completing patent searches and IP clearances, managing client patent portfolios, providing IP training services, providing subject matter expertise for business transactions and litigating intellectual property disputes. The ideal candidate would be able to provide legal support to clients not only on patent issues, but also in the areas of trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and privacy rights. Must be self-motivated and highly disciplined with excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering excellent client service and results.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate
- Registered US Patent Attorney
- Minimum 5 years of direct IP legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house
- Occasional local travel
- Portable book of business or the ability and willingness to build a sustained practice
- Demonstrated ability to work with others of varying backgrounds
- Experience with prosecution, licensing and litigation matters
Paralegal/Law Office Administrator
Martensen IP is seeking a Paralegal and Office Administrator to join as an integral part of our law office team and become the “go to” person for office administration and management.

Responsibilities
- Perform patent and trademark filings through the USPTO
- Construct document shells for patent and trademark applications and office actions
- Manage deadlines and client notifications for patent and trademark filings
- Gather, organize and enter data into legal software, i.e., Clio and DocketTrak
- Know and manage the numbers; understand the budget, costs, revenue, distributions, fees, originations, etc.; generate invoices and interact with clients; be the primary contact with the managing partner and our CPAs on all financials
- Approach all clients and employees with positivity and professionalism
- Handle sensitive client data with utmost discretion, care and accuracy
- Perform tasks as assigned with accuracy and promptness, meeting all agreed upon deadlines
Qualifications
- College graduate, preferably with a background in business and/or management;
- Five (5) years experience in a law office setting;
- Paralegal training, preferably with intellectual property training;
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills;
- Professional demeanor and positive communicator;
- Computer literacy, including a solid understanding Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and Excel applications;
- Experience with Clio and DocketTrak or comparable systems preferred;
- Demonstrate proficiency to focus on details, handle multiple tasks, and remain highly organized;
- Go above and beyond on simple requests to make things easier on others.
